Our Story

In the late 1930s, a visionary named Haji Matiur Rahman walked through the vibrant lanes of Banaras, now known as Varanasi, with a dream to elevate creativity and craftsmanship to something far more enduring. Born into a community deeply rooted in weaving, he grew up observing his father work closely with artisans whose skill and dedication would one day shape what the world now admires as Banarasi handloom sarees. For him, this was never just a profession, it was a responsibility.

Guided by a deep respect for craftsmanship and an uncompromising commitment to quality, he laid the foundation of a business that would carry forward this legacy with honesty and precision. Over time, this journey evolved beyond tradition, becoming a symbol of trust, authenticity, and timeless craftsmanship. Today, that legacy continues with Auvirah.

For nearly nine decades, our family has served customers across India, especially in the southern regions, building relationships that go far beyond transactions. Trust was never claimed, it was earned slowly through consistency, honesty, and quality. Each saree represented not just design, but a promise of heritage and excellence.

As generations evolved, so did our vision. While staying rooted in tradition, we embraced the need to move forward with time. Why Auvirah

Life often changes direction in the most unexpected ways. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when uncertainty affected small businesses across the country, our family also went through a challenging phase.

It was during this time that we chose to begin again, to build something of our own and take our legacy directly to people. Starting from scratch on Instagram was not easy, especially after years of experience in wholesale. But we believed that progress, even in small steps, is always better than standing still.

With dedication and consistency, we began sharing our sarees online, connecting with people who appreciated authenticity and craftsmanship. Our intention was simple, to offer beautiful sarees with honesty and create a meaningful customer experience. Slowly, our small community began to grow, and with every order, message, and interaction, we felt reassured that we were moving in the right direction.

That trust and belief became the foundation of our next step, launching our website and introducing Auvirah to a wider audience.
